Dec 27, 2017 · As the owner of 60 plates low mileage of 3.0s portfolio, I was shocked when at 53,800 miles after 16 months of ownership the engine blew up. Serviced in June with the correct oil etc, with no sign of any trouble, and by October it was dead. Catastrophic engine failure, probably caused by diesel contamination of the oil (piston wash).

Jul 1, 2013 · I have had the same intermittent "Gearbox fault" messages for the last 12 months (4 in total) on my 2009 2.2 diesel auto X-Type. These have been identified as being caused by turbo faults. I have been told that the addition of, say Redex diesel engine conditioner and running at high revs may "blow" the problem away.
